This Trauma-Informed Care training provides a foundational knowledge about the effects of toxic stress, trauma, and adversity on health and well-being. The curriculum was funded by NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and is considered the standard approach to training Trauma-Informed Care practices across the state. Attending this training is a great way for employees, supervisors, volunteers and others to introduce and implement measures to become trauma informed and ultimately improve the overall wellness of their organization.

GRIEF & LOSS WORKSHOP

Loss touches every life. Each individual’s loss brings a different layered experience of grief. Loss can come in many forms, certainly the most profound loss and grief experience occurs when a loved one dies. If you have experienced a loss due to death, or know someone who has, attending this workshop may help you navigate through the grief process. Participants will learn about grief, coping and growing through grief, and becoming empowered through compassion and resilience.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING

Mental Health First Aid teaches the skills needed to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, as well as how to provide someone with initial support until they are in connection with appropriate professional help. In the course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

safeTALK Suicide Alertness Training

safeTALK is a half-day suicide alertness training that helps participants recognize signs of suicidal thoughts and connect individuals to life-saving support. Open to anyone 15 years or older, it requires no prior experience and uses presentations, practice, and audiovisuals to teach key skills. Participants learn to notice warning signs, ask directly about suicide, listen without judgement, and link people to appropriate help. safeTALK empowers individuals to play a vital role in suicide prevention and supports the creation of safer, more responsive communities.

Come learn about local resources available to support mental wellness - for yourself, your loved ones, and our community. Whether you're seeking guidance, support, or simply want to learn more, this event offers a welcoming space to explore mental health services and build stronger community connections. Free childcare will be provided during the informational session, and registration is required to help us plan for food and childcare needs. Everyone is welcome!

CCA'S 2025 BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

CCA will hold its 2025 Back to School Bash on the front lawn at 25 Jefferson Street, Salamanca, New York, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. This event is free and open to all area children.

Bring your kids to enjoy an afternoon of carnival-type activities and prizes and refreshments!  Each of CCA’s departments will host a carnival-type activity for the kids to play and win prizes to celebrate the end of summer. There will also be face painting and balloon shapes for the kids to express their creative sides!  

The goal of the event is to end the summer on a fun note and provide awareness of the services that are available in our communities to assist individuals and families in their day-to-day lives in the areas of health and safety, economic, and social issues.

CCA’s Back to School Bash will also feature backpack and school supply giveaways.

CCA builds resilient communities by helping people achieve economic, physical, and emotional security.

We are happy and excited to be able to provide the community children with a special fun-filled summer afternoon.  Join us on Thursday, August 21st!
